FOUNTAIN TO THE FALLS 7MILE RUN/WALK
The City of Monrovia 2nd annual Fountain to the Falls 7mile Run/Walkis coming up on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 7a.m. There is still time to Register at www.active.com until May 17, 2012. The fee to enter the race is $30 per person and includes a t-shirt. Awards for top three finishers in each age category. Click for a list of street closures during the race. 2012 BRUSH CLEARANCE SEASON
The 2012 bruch clearance season has started and the Fire Department will be inspecting hillside area homes. The City's chipper program will not be available this year due to expired grant funding and it will be the homeowner's responsibilty to dispose of brush. GREAT LAWN MOWER EXCHANGE STARTS MAY 2
Residents in Monrovia and surrounding LA & Orange County areas are eligible to turn in their old, but still operable, gas lawn mower and purchase a new, cordless, rechargeable, electric lawn mower at a greatly reduced price, thanks to a special program offered by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD). Pre-registration is required and will open on May 2 online at www.aqmd.gov or (888) 425-6247. Six models of electric lawnmowers are available for exchange, ranging in price from $100 to $280, sales tax included. There is a limit of one mower per residence. Click here for more info.
MEMORIAL DAY- CITY AND SCHOOL OFFICES CLOSED
Monday, May 28 is Memorial Day. All City and School offices will be closed. To honor our Veterans, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich is hosting the 15th Annual Veterans Event in Arcadia Park on Saturday, May 26. Click here for more information. UPDATE: NEW 'PASSPORT PLACE' HOURS ANNOUNCED
Monrovia City Hall's Passport Placeis now open for walk-in service Mondays through Thursdays, from 1 to 6 p.m., and Fridays, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. The office is also open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to noon by appointment only.
