Monday, April 5, 2010, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm - Seven Steps to Being Gainfully Employed Located at the Monrovia Public Library. In this timely workshop, patrons will learn how to fill-out and complete an on-line application for unemployment, create resumes and cover letters. Patrons will also learn how to utilize career resources, develop interviewing skills and learn about a multitude of job websites. The program will include handouts from the California EDD, as well as an annotated bibliography of employment websites.
Monrovia Book Club A reading program that is open to adult and teenage patrons of the Monrovia Public Library. For more information on How it works and How to join visit the Monrovia Book Club blog.
Games Galore! Play chess, checkers, Scrabble or work on jigsaw puzzles every day in the Adult Reading Room.
Hoffman Technology Centers The Monrovia Public Library has 14 public access computers for use at no charge. Eight computers are located in the Hoffman Adult Services Technology Center for adult use and six computers are located in the Youth Services Technology Center for use by children only.
The computers are loaded with Microsoft Word for word processing, Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet applications and Microsoft PowerPoint for slide presentations. All the computers also have Internet access. The computers are available at all times that the library is open on a first-come first-served basis. Advance reservations are not accepted. Use of all computers is restricted to one hour when there are other patrons waiting to use them.
All computers are connected to a network printer. The cost of printing is 15 cents per page.
Outreach for the Homebound Monrovia Public Library offers an outreach service, providing books for individuals who are homebound. To request the service or if you wish to volunteer to deliver books to homebound patrons, please call Carol at (626) 256-8264.
