Fire Department Staff - Telestaff Link

There are individuals posing as private fire inspectors allegedly “helping” to relieve the workload of the local fire department. They perform fraudulent inspections, issue invoices authorizing payment for various services that were “performed."
Fortunately, the businesses that reported being approached refused to sign the Invoice.
MFD conducts annual fire inspections in all city businesses. Business owners should not let anyone inspect their fire extinguishers, sprinkler system, alarm system, hood system, or any other fire protection device until requested by MFD personnel.
Fire Protection Business and Professional Requirements
When someone enters your business to perform any type of fire protection work, they must do the following (4) things before CONSIDER retaining their services.
1) Produce a business card identifying them and the business they represent.
2) Present a current copy of a City of Monrovia business license for the company they represent
3) Present a California Fire Marshal picture identification, and a C-16 or C-10 license issued by the California Contractors State License Board.
4) They must tell you what they intend to do and what the estimated costs will be.
Vendors must leave you a signed invoice and any parts that they have replaced and have charged you for.
Never pay in cash! (Businesses need to maintain proper records – invoices etc., for any tax or legal purpose that may arise)
REMEMBER you always have the right to refuse the service and request that a Monrovia Fire Department Inspector visit your business.
We will gladly advise you of any needed service. We also have a list of approved and qualified vendors. If have any questions or need any assistance please call Deputy Fire Marshall Alice Robin at (626)256-8110.
Thank you for helping us combat fraud.
